hey not bad

Pretty good job on animating the clip for the papa roach song.

It was all kinda like i expected it would be though. Pretty disturbing and depressing in some scenes though. I hope you are not planning on actually cutting yourself or whatever and that its just a visualisation of the angry feelings.

Iv heard the papa roach song a little bit too many times to be really amazed by it. Still it fitted your animation quite well. The images and sound very well synched.

You are not the best drawer in the world and it really shows in some scenes. Sometimes the character was just a square with some points and the backgrounds were never really complicated. Try to work a little bit more on the details overall. Maybe some shadow work, then it would look all much better! Still there were some nice effects though throughout the movie. The dust and scratches, the big white moving words etc.

Unfortunately i wasnt really touched or anything by your movie. It all went a little bit too fast and the motives and happenings were not really clear. I would have liken it better if you could see why and how the main character went into this depressing state instead of a 3 second scene were his girl breaks up over the internet and some random scenes follow. Maybe im just getting too old for this. Still ill be looking for more of your work in the future!

Greetings. I apologize for the horrible artwork, this was before I got my graphics tablet. I have yet to complete and submit a finished movie with my new art though. I start too many projects and none get finished. I guess I'm just not motivated lately. I was an ex-cutter, though I haven't cut in probably a good 6 months. At the time of making this, I was still cutting myself though. I'd like to make something similar to this but enriched with my new knowledge and understanding of things, yet I know not where to start or what to do exactly, and I have not the drive to complete it yet. We shall see. Thank you for the review, I appreciate it.

original and refreshing

Very good flash that is well put together.

Im so glad that you took time to come up with a storyline and that u managed to create the right atmosphere. With this being done very well, the lack of animation isnt as annoying anymore.

Your drawing style is one of the best iv seen on newgrounds so far. Although the entire animation was done mainly with green tones, the work of shadows and light were superb. It reminds me a little bit like comic book artists Todd Mcfarlane and Jim Lee. I bet u (used to) read comics alot and learned much from those artists.

The music was also awesome. I think its better this way without voice acting. Cause if you added voice acting, some form of lyp synching would be needed too (otherwise it would like kinda weird) and that in turn would spoil the still images.

The only main flaw in this animation is the length. It is over so quickly and that is really a pity, because with a good storyline you are creating it will take like 50 episodes to end it. Please make it a little bit longer next time so it will be also more enjoyable for the viewer and give him the chance to get sucked in to the story a bit more.

Anyway keep up the great work and im looking forward to your upcomming work.

Thank you very much for the in depth review and comments. I am very flattered with where you see my influences coming from. I do read alot of comics and love the medium and the two artists you mentioned have been huge influences on my work. I also love Tim Bradstreet's work as well.

There was a lot you picked up on that impresses me about your attention. Many of the things we are doing (and that you mentioned) others do not understand yet and it is great to find someone who appreciates the subtlties as well as the overall comic.

As for the length, we do plan on making longer episodes beginning with episode 4. Thank you again for your review and stick with us, it will get even better.

cool!

Hey, i liked this. Nice use of the photographic backgrounds. The music wasnt really the kind i would play on my free sunday morning, but it fitted the animation quite well. The special effects and frame by frame work were also pretty awesome. They must have costed you alot of time creating. Still i think the characters were al littble bit too simple and undetailed. Maybe if u used gradient colours to colour them in then they would have been given some depth. And a little bit more shadow on them wouldnt hurt either. Anyway good job, take care.

FireHound responds:

you are right... there weren't too many details in this... and I'll try to shade things up next time...
thank you for reviewing

pretty good,

Nice idea, cool graphics and pretty cute atmosphere. Indeed its a pity its only so short. But the message (whatever it is) came across. Maybe u should consider doing another flash featuring this robot which will be a little bit longer. Im sure u will make something great outa it.

Lambi responds:

He also apears in the second half of my 3rd Lambi animation.

well...

Well i guess it could have been alot worse. The graphics were okay overall. The backgrounds and some of the animation sequences made up for the sloppy stick figures. I also couldnt really understand what exactly was going on. I mean the blue guy was supposed to be some sort of ice man, but what was the purple guy shooting? Maybe some text or voice (i.o.w: motives) will be a nice addition. Nice choise of music though. Iv been a huge fan of the prodigy ever since their first cd. Well keep practising and take more time for ur next animation!

Sluf responds:

Well, i dont know if it will help you, but the purple guy was the red guy, who absorbed so much energi from the explosion he became a wizard of pure energy (i just dident make him strong enouge to fullfy his new form) but the meaning of it was that it was gonna be very fast, but if its so fast people cant see what it is :P i better put in some explanation

woohoo, another episode!

Yes, yes, yes! another episode of my favorite anime series. I really started liking this after i watched all your episodes a couple of months ago. The drawings and animation are not the best, but the story totally makes up for that. But there is on big BUT. Where the hell is the voiceacting man? U promised it would be here and it isnt! :'( Neway this is still a great piece. More cinematic and professional than the other episodes and a good conclussion. Take care!

Lifepoint1 responds:

Sorry for the delay on voice acting.
We currently finished voices for sessions 1 to 3, and the rest should be coming along in due time.
We'd like to continue the series as originally paced however, and voices will be added in as we go. Thanks alot for the review, and I think we've improved the graphics quite a bit in the new chapter, and we hope you enjoy it too.

heh, not bad

Pretty cool. The graphics were kinda terrible but the music brought something to the animation. The explosion at the end was a nice thing. Meh, not really funny, but not really terrible either. Hurray!

DaEnglishWeiner responds:

hurray!

hmm

I'm sorry, but i didnt really like this one much. The graphics were pretty good, especially the backgrounds were awesome. But i don't think you made those, did you? What dissapointed me about this was that i found the story a little bit simple/cliche and a tad boring. The movie consisted of 3 scenes and in every scene there was a short conversation that went into a fight... Also the animation could have been smoother (more frames per movement) and the entire thing was too short. Well 2 bad, but there is always room for improvement.

MaxR responds:

No i did not make the backgrounds obviously, but I did edit it and put it together. Sprite movies wasn't mean to have so many frames, because the smoothness of the animation depends on teh sprites. And I'll agree, there is room for improvement.

close to perfection

Extremely well done. The graphics and animation are the creme de la creme. This is together with Aura, the only flash iv seen that knows how to implement 3d techniques without making the flash too cheap-looking. No doubt this will go in the top 10. It will just take a little while cause u dont have a batting average yet. I felt like the entire animation had some beautiful deeper meaning. It shows the contrasts between the beautiful perfect fantasy life in our head and the hard cold technoligical society we live in. I have no negative things to say about this and that is very rare, since im pretty critical about flash movies.

Volo responds:

"creme de la creme" Nice ;-) May I use this fraise, I like it!

allright

Not bad man. Iv seen some of your work now and i must say that you are getting better and better with flash. This piece borrows alot from Kill Bill, but still has it's own identity. Ur good with camera angles, cinematic situations and details. I dont think you are the best drawer, maybe u should buy a drawing tablet to improve on this? A little bit more annoying was the animation at some points though. The scrolling background, spinning rims, road lines and walking animation really need some more work. I know u are a fan of Luis and i see that u use some things he uses too. Like the unblurring effects and the already mentioned scrolling backgrounds. All in all i think ur an artist with good potential and im looking forward in seeing more stuff from you. Oh and tell Zidane i said hi, when u see him in France for me, ok?

alexsmolik responds:

Thanks a lot man, I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for telling about me getting better at flash!
I didn't know I had the skills of a "cinema" guy, for the "camera angles and cinematic situations". It's nice to hear that! Yeah, I'm working on saving up to buy a graphic tablet, but hey, money is a tricky thing ! :)
Yeah! Of course I'm a fan of Luis's work, he's one of the best. And yeah, I try to be inspired by my fav. artist's works. And yeah, you did notice the "blurring" effect ;-)
Thanks a lot for all the encouraging things you say, it gives me "stenght" and determination to keep making flash, but I'm really lazy lol.
About Zidane ... that was total pwnage tonight. That guy is a god. And yeah, I'll tell him you said hi... If I ever see him one day :-/
Thanks for the motivating review!
Alex
